Ethical Weigh Community Benefit Society Needs You
That is … we need you to become a member
You may know us as “Ethical Weigh Co-Op” but formally we are “Ethical Weigh Community
Benefit Society”, a form of Co-operative registered with the FCA and with Co-Operatives UK.
We are governed by our constitution and rules.
Ethical Weigh Co-Op operates a refill shop, cafe and studio, where our ethos is to:
observe co-operative principles
facilitate healthy eating
minimise our impact on the environment by reducing plastic and other waste
What's involved in becoming a member?
As a co-operative, all members share equal rights to participate and help shape the growth and direction of Ethical Weigh Co-Op. This is a chance to think global and act local.
There are 3 types of membership and costs:

Pay (a single payment of) £150 for Lifetime Membership.
When we started there were Pioneers Investors who each made an initial investment of at least £500 into the Co-Op to help facilitate the transition to a co-op.

What do we mean by Zero Plastic? - Some more info about what we do.
Zero plastics describes our goal, we strive to avoid plastic, especially single use plastics. We work to source products from suppliers that exemplify zero waste and the circular economy to giving our community viable alternatives to mainstream retailers.
What about our leftovers and other food waste?
Fresh produce no longer looking its best goes to our kitchen to be transformed into soups, curries and casseroles
Our peelings and kitchen waste go to the compost heap at Eglinton Men’s Shed for their vegetable garden.
Left over greens get eaten by the hens that produce the eggs sold in the shop.
Edible left over food goes to the Eglinton Community Larder
What else do we do for the local community:
Provide local employment in the shop and cafe.
Provide volunteering opportunities in the shop and cafe.
Host workshops in our Community Studio room.
Our volunteers are amazing but … volunteering isn't the only way to help, as a member you can:
